Nestled in the rolling hills of Glenroy in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, Black Cat Flower Garden is a small, seasonal flower business built on love, compost, and a whole lot of string.<\/p>

I'm Cathy \u2014 gardener, flower-picker, bunch-maker, and accidental cat assistant. I grow fresh, local flowers from seed to stem, using sustainable methods and a quiet respect for the rhythm of the land. What began as a personal passion has gently bloomed into a community favourite \u2014 offering honest flowers for honest occasions.<\/p>

Every flower that leaves this garden has been grown right here in Glenroy \u2014 no imports, no chemicals, no shortcuts. My approach is simple: seasonal flowers, compostable packaging, and arrangements designed to reflect the joy and wildness of nature. You'll often find them wrapped in plain paper, tied with jute string, and finished with a hand-penned note or label.<\/p>

Sustainability isn\u2019t just a buzzword here \u2014 it\u2019s a core principle. I believe your bunch should break down naturally in the compost bin once it's had its day in the vase.<\/div><\/header>

The Black Cat in the Garden<\/span><\/span><\/h2>
Yes, there is an actual black cat. He\u2019s part of the team \u2014 often joining me while I sort labels, string ribbon, or try to photograph jars and jam tins without him stepping into frame. He\u2019s become a bit of a mascot, and you\u2019ll spot him throughout the site.<\/div><\/header>

Life in the Garden<\/span><\/span><\/h2>
At 320m above sea level, the garden keeps me on my toes. Some years we dodge frost; others we don\u2019t. The flowers come in when they\u2019re ready \u2014 I let nature lead the dance. You\u2019ll find dahlias, zinnias, sweet peas, daffodils, cosmos, and all manner of wild companions across the months.<\/p>

In winter, things quieten down. But even then, I\u2019m usually planting bulbs or planning for spring \u2014 knees in the dirt, hands in the compost, and thoughts already a season ahead.<\/div><\/header>
